Stourbridge Lion Medical Centre
The Lion Medical Centre formerly the Foster & Rastrick's, 'New Foundry' a grade II* listed building on the English Heritage at risk register. The building was converted into its new use as a medical centre with great care being taken to preserve the original fabric and internal features.
The roof structure is a unique and innovative single span truss with a cast beam with light angle truss framing above.
The centres interior is set on a free-standing steel framework, not relying upon the old building for any structural support. There has been a minimum of intervention and connection to the listed building. The interior is lightweight and loose fit, so that the use may be easily changed in the future. This building is now in its third century, and has begun a new phase in its continuing history serving local people.
The facility provides a state of the art medical facility, with thirty consulting rooms ,a minor opps theatre, and teaching facility.
